Fame

Fame. Embracing it doesn’t always guarantee fortune. It is very possible to succeed without obsessing over your accomplishments. Many celebrities and citizens today want fame and popularity, others surprisingly do not.
I bet you all are very curious who I am talking about….. This singer had the top single of 2011 that sent her to stardom. She’s full of class and won’t change her esthetic for anyone. Who is this inspiring person you ask? Adele (Atkins). In a recent interview with Anderson Cooper about her career thus far, her complicated love life, and recent hardships with vocal cord surgery, Cooper almost always leads her answers back to fame, fame, and more fame. Although Cooper’s focus is fame, Adele simply doesn’t dwell on those questions because other things are of more importance to her.
After writing Rolling in the Deep one day after a breakup with her boyfriend, she says that her fame rose overnight, literally. Cooper asked her what she thought about it… she said, “Awful. It was hilarious, it was funny!” “It’s just not my cup of tea.” “I find it quite difficult to think that there’s, you know, about 20 million people listening to my album that I wrote very selfishly to get over a breakup… I didn’t write it being that it’s going to be a hit.” She says many times that she is thankful for her fans and the support they’ve given her. In no way does she dislike her fans, she just doesn’t like the paparazzi following her everywhere and reporting where she eats and what she eats for dinner. You can tell Adele is honored to make a difference in someone’s life through a good love song.
I think Adele is very admirable and humble for not being engrossed in her fame and success. Even though to be successful in the music industry you have to have fans, she is someone to look up to because she doesn’t use her popularity in a bad way. Adele faced many hardships in the last year, but still has millions of fans because she’s unique inside and out. People respect her because she is able to express herself through something she loves; making music.
In contrast, celebrities like the Kardashians, Snooki, Lady Gaga, and Madonna all really appreciate their fame and what people think of them. What keeps them popular is their support system and doing what society wants to see happen. Some of these individuals are merely famous for always being in the media.
Every human being has a way of expressing themselves. I think it is ok to care what people think about you, but it shouldn’t be what controls your lifestyle, clothing, and hobbies. A real life example, Adele, shows us that you can make beautiful things by just being yourself. Keep your secrets to yourself, because that’s a part of you, you only know.    (481)
